Transition to winter 2022

 We are well into winter here at Holy Cross Refugio. 

Beautiful fall colors have transformed to grays and browns and a light coating of white that grows with each storm.

The approach is longer starting on November 20th, but the solitude is worth it. A little food, a little firewood, and your favorite book can go a long way. 

Getting ready for winter

The leaves are almost done changing, the temps are dropping below freezing, and the skis are coming out of the basement ... If you've been wanting to try out . A beautiful 10+ mile skin, snowshoe, or snowmobile ride in bring you to endless backcountry options (if you are skilled in avalanche terrain recognition) or just a cozy spot by the fire.

Summer season

Now is a great time to enjoy the flowers, lakes, and trails. Passes and lakes have mostly melted out, and it is getting green. If you are looking for dates, check out Hipcamp or Airbnb to see what is available... links in "Booking Options".
